The Governors Highway Safety Association decided not to back the legislation proposing complete ban of cell phone use while driving. The GHSA considers that the efforts to ban cell phones and text messaging devices have proven to be ineffective. Cell phone use is permitted in Florida as long as the cell phone only requires one ear, except from bus drivers who are prohibited to use cell phones while working. The proposal will be addressed by the Legislature again in March 2011. |
