All-American DSO program focuses on Barber

Music director Leonard Slatkin and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra have been celebrating Samuel Barber's centennial all season, but there was an extra resonance to Thursday's performance of the Symphony No. 1 because it came two days after the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth.
