California man charged with DUI in fatal motorcycle crash released from custodyby Wanda Derllump, January 25th, 2012 A 37-year-old San Jose, California man who was arrested for operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol that was involved in a fatal accident with a motorcyclist has been released from custody, the Silicon Valley Mercury News reports. According to the media outlet, Aaron Keith Taylor is set to appear in court March 5. Police reports indicate Taylor and Christopher Kalaveras collided at the corner of Francis and Santa Maria Avenues on Thursday, January 19, where Kalaveras was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his motorcycle. On Monday, police declined to provide any more details on the accident, or why the man's DUI charge was noted as a misdemeanor rather than a felony, which the original reports indicated. Several people have written on the Mercury News "Guest Book" showing their support for Kalaveras' family. To decrease the number of motorcycle accidents in the state, the California Highway Patrol instated a motorcycle safety training campaign, which has taught more than 675,700 motorcyclists since it began in 1987. Those who have been injured in a motorcycle crash may want to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer, as legal options may be available.
