Columnist, author Jeffrey Zaslow killed in Michigan truck accident

Jeffrey Zaslow, an award-winning Wall Street Journal columnist and co-author of the best selling book "The Last Lecture," was killed on Friday, February 10, in an accident involving a large truck.

According to Reuters, the passenger car in which Zaslow was traveling allegedly lost control on a snow-covered road near Elmira and veered into the path of a tractor trailer, killing him instantly. Antrim County Sheriff Daniel Bean has released very few details regarding the truck accident.

The 53-year-old author had made an appearance at the Petoskey bookstore the day before the accident. On January 30, Zaslow spoke at the West Bloomfield Main Library, where he discussed his latest book, "The Magic Room: A Story About the Love We Wish for Our Daughters."

According to the West Bloomfield Patch, branch manager of the library Mary Killian stated Zaslow always enjoyed the support he received from his hometown.

"It's such a tragedy. The West Bloomfield community has lost a treasured author," Killian said. "He spoke at the library just last week to his devoted readers who found inspiration in all of his books. His storytelling was such a gift to all of us."
