Driver sued over fatal New York car accidentby Elizabeth Porter, August 3rd, 2011 Following a 2007 New York crash that severely injured brothers Justin and Karon Crew, the parents of the boys have now filed a lawsuit with several defendants listed in the complaint and are seeking millions of dollars, the Poughkeepsie Journal reports. According to the news source, Wendy and Franklin Crew hired a car accident attorney in order to sue the other driver in the accident, Christopher Higley, as well as his father, the Town of Beekman, New York State Electric and Gas Corp. and Verizon New York, although NYSEG and Verizon have been dropped from the complaint. The Crews allege that the town failed to "properly design and construct" the road, failed to "maintain a barrier along the highway" and allowed NYSEG to "erect a utility pole in the shoulder," which led to the accident that left Justin Crew in a coma and with severe injuries, the media outlet stated According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, there were 314,974 automobile accidents in 2009, which resulted in 133,888 reported injuries. The Crews seek damages of close to $10 million on behalf of both of their sons. All content on Accidents.com is for informational purposes only and is NOT intended as legal or medical advice.
