The tragic accident took place on April 13, 2011. According to police reports, Guillen was intoxicated while driving his girlfriend's 2010 Range Rover southbound on the U.S. 1 busway approaching speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. He then allegedly collided directly into the side of the Camacho family's minivan, causing massive structural damage, nearly tearing it into two pieces. Guillen then kept driving and ultimately ended up on foot trying to flee the scene. He subsequently received multiple charges including DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, according to the Miami Herald. The community rallied around the family in their time of desperation as more than 250 people went to court to support the Camacho's.
