ECU student killed in weekend motorcycle crashby Graham Allchurch, February 7th, 2012 A motorcycle crash in Greenville, North Carolina, has claimed the life of an East Carolina University student, according to the Daily Reflector. The news source states Greenville police announced that Cameron Adrian Griffin, a 21-year-old from Kernersville, died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after the crash, which occurred about about 3 a.m. on Sunday, February 5. Griffin was riding in the eastbound lanes on Third Street when he allegedly struck the curb at the Jarvis Street intersection, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. Griffin then crashed through a wood rail fence and struck a brick house next to Christie's Euro Pub, the news source stated. A follow-up investigation is currently being conducted by the Greenville Police Traffic Safety Unit to determine the exact cause of the crash and to uncover any factors that may have contributed to his loss of control. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show motorcyclist fatalities rose consecutively for 11 years before falling to a total 850 around the country in 2009, a 24 percent decline. Those who have been injured in a motorcycle crash are encouraged to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer, as legal options may be available.
