Family of teenager killed in Connecticut crash settles lawsuitby Shawna Dashwood, October 10th, 2011 A settlement has been filed in a wrongful death lawsuit brought forth by the family of a teen who was killed in a Connecticut car accident in 2010. The family alleges a police officer and the owner of a bar are to blame for their son's death, The Associated Press reports. According to the news source, Henry Dang's family settled the suit against former Windsor Locks Police Officer Micheal Koistinen and the Suffield Tavern. The terms of the settlement were not made public. Police reports show Michael Koistinen was driving more than 70 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone after consuming alcohol for several hours at a local tavern. Witnesses say Koistinen was walking an an "unsteady manner" as he left the bar. The Dang family's car accident lawyer stated the lawsuit accuses Michael Koistinen and Jacek Bucior, the owner of the tavern, of recklessness and negligence involved in the 15-year-old's death, as he was allegedly struck by the driver while riding his bike home from a friends house. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 99 drunk-driving related deaths in Connecticut in 2009.
