Idaho boy's death prompts lawsuit from parentsby Guy Kilty, October 6th, 2011 The parents of a 15-year-old boy from Carey, Idaho, who was killed in a two-car crash while operating a vehicle during a driver's education class have filed a wrongful death lawsuit, naming the Blaine County School District as one of the defendants in the case, the Magic Valley Times-News reports. According to the news source, parents Dennis and Maryann Hennefer hired a car accident lawyer, alleging that Jeffery A. Mecham, the attending driving instructor, suggested the boy make a three-point turn in "extremely icy and slick" roadway conditions while visibility was also very poor. While making the turn, the car was broadsided by another vehicle on the driver's side door. In the complaint, the other driver in the accident is also named as a defendant, alleging he was driving unsafely in the conditions that were seen on the morning of Monday, October 26, 2010. According to the Idaho Mountain Express, the suit was filed on September 21. The accident occurred on U.S. highway 20, about two miles west of Highway 75. After an investigation conducted by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, the county's Prosecuting Attorney's Office decided not to file criminal charges against either party.
