Man critically injured in New York motorcycle accident

A man from Canastota, New York, was listed in critical condition on Wednesday, September 14, after the motorcycle he was riding on allegedly collided with a pickup truck in Lenox, New York, according to the Observer-Dispatch.

Donald Harp, 16, was driving his pickup northbound on Route 13 when he turned into a parking lot, allegedly crossing paths with 47-year-old Greg Risley while he was riding his motorcycle.

According to the news source, Risley suffered serious injuries in the crash and had to be rushed to Oneida Healthcare by the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service. Later, he was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Harp was given a citation for failing to yield to right-of-way on a left turn, and is set to appear in court on a later date, the media outlet stated.

According to the New York Department of Motor Vehicles, there were 5,150 motorcycle accidents within the state in 2009, resulting in 152 fatalities.

Motorcycle accident lawyers are often consulted after crashes, as many times, legal action can result in compensation for the victims.
