Man suffers major injuries in Kansas motorcycle crash

A Lansing, Kansas man had to be airlifted to a regional hospital after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle crash in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 12, a police spokesman told the Leavenworth Times.

According to the news source, the crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Kansas 5 Highway, at the intersection with Eisenhower Road. Police say a 23-year-old man was riding on a Kawasaki motorcycle when he allegedly veered off the roadway and collided with an embankment. The impact ejected the rider from the bike, which then returned to rest on the roadway.

First responders found the rider, who was wearing a helmet, unconscious at the scene. The man was then flown by medical helicopter to the University of Kansas hospital, the news provider stated

On Monday, police chief Steve Wayman stated he was not sure if the rider had regained consciousness yet, and that speed likely was a contributing factor in the crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, wearing a helmet saved the lives of an estimated 1,829 people in crashes across the country in 2008.

Those who have been injured in such an accident may want to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer, as legal options may be available.
