Michigan plane crash injures four passengersby Elizabeth Porter, November 17th, 2011 Four people were admitted to a regional Hospital in Flint, Michigan, after the plane they were flying in allegedly experienced engine failure, causing the aircraft to flip after the crew attempted to perform an emergency landing at Bishop International Airport, The Detroit News reports. According to the media outlet, the passengers' injuries were not life threatening, and all four were able to walk away from the crash. Pat Corfman, an airport spokeswoman, stated the accident occurred on runway 1836 at about 9:30 a.m. "We had a general aviation aircraft divert to Flint after it lost one of its two engines," Corfman said. "It was carrying four passengers on a flight from St. Petersburg, Fla., to Wisconsin. The pilot came in too fast, lost control and flipped." As the plane approached, firemen were waiting on the ground, and immediately doused the aircraft in foam to keep any flames from spreading. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, there have been 1,209 civil aviation accidents in 2011 through September, compared to 1,227 in the same period of 2010.
