Mother sues after son killed in Pennsylvania car crash

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the mother of Ethan Moyer, who was killed in a car accident in November of 2010, against the other driver involved in the accident, according to the Pocono Record.

The news source reports that the lawsuit was filed in the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, and claims that Andrew Dougan, 22, broke several laws, including driving under the influence of alcohol, that led to the death of her son.

The Sarah Street Grill, where Dougan had been drinking prior to the crash, is also listed as a defendant, with Moyer's car accident attorney claiming the establishment acted irresponsibly by continuing to serve alcohol to him despite obvious signs of intoxication.

"The bottom line is we try our best to keep this thing from happening. We run a tight ship here," David Lapoint, owner of the grill, stated. " And, to be honest, I feel horrible about what happened, that someone lost a life."

According to the organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving, it is estimated that nearly 11,000 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes across the country in 2010.
