Multi-vehicle crash kills California cyclist, leaves others injured

A multi-car crash on Wednesday resulted in the death of one bicyclist and sent others to an area hospital with moderate injuries, My Desert reports.

According to the news source, Donald McCluskey, 49, was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California, after he was allegedly struck by a vehicle involved in the accident. However, he later died from his injuries. The crash also led to the arrest of Larry Wayne Goodman, 60, of Cathedral City, after he was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

The crash occurred at about 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday when a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country traveling north on DaVall Street allegedly drove through a red light and was struck by a 1989 GMC Sierra heading west on Ramon Street, the media outlet stated.

The Chrysler flipped on impact and skidded into McCluskey, who was waiting on his bike for the light to change.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 3,076 people were killed in car accidents across the state in 2009, while another 232,777 people were injured.

Those who have been injured in a car accident may want to contact a car accident lawyer, as legal action may be an option.
