
Nevada man killed in weekend motorcycle accidentby Guy Kilty, February 14th, 2012 Metro police told the news source the accident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on Hollywood Boulevard, just south of North Access Road. Investigators believe the motorcyclist allegedly lost control of his bike and struck a light pole. According to the media outlet, the 1982 Suzuki was traveling north on Hollywood Boulevard at excessive speeds when it allegedly struck the curb on the east side of the street. The collision caused the bike to slide on its side before coming in contact with the light pole, which ejected the rider. The man was taken to the trauma unit of University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead by medical officials, according to the news source. The accident marks the 17th traffic-related fatality in North Valley jurisdiction. By Monday, February 13, authorities had identified the man as Carlos R. Barajas, and found that he had died as a result of blunt force trauma that occurred after striking the light pole. According to Fox affiliate News 5, police are still investigating the accident.
