
North Mississippi truck accident leaves three dead, two injuredby Elizabeth Porter, November 8th, 2011 Three people were killed in a traffic accident involving a tractor trailer on a highway in northern Mississippi in the early morning hours of Monday, November 7, NBC affiliate WLBT reports. According to the news source, the Mississippi Highway Patrol stated the accident occurred at about 5 a.m. on Highway 72 on the border of Tippah and Alcorn counties when a tractor trailer allegedly collided with a pickup truck. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene by medical officials, while a fourth person was transferred to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, via medical helicopter. Arnoldo Moreno and Juan A. Estrada, both killed in the accident, were wearing seat belts, while Jose P. Garcia-Guillen and survivor Raul Cabrera were not. CBS affiliate WCBI reports that truck driver Randle Walker sustained only minor injuries in the accident, which occurred after he allegedly turned right onto the highway from County Road 747, reportedly colliding with the truck. The Mississippi Highway Patrol has begun an investigation into the crash.
