Ohio man arrested for seventh DUI

A 34-year-old man was arrested for the seventh time Wednesday night in Elyria, Ohio, for drunk driving charges.

The Chronicle-Telegram reported Daniel Surry had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent, while the legal limit in the state of Ohio is 0.08. Surrey, after crashing his motorcycle into a tree branch on Cambridge Avenue, fled the scene with passenger Juanita Lorenzana, the source claimed.

Surry is being charged with drunk driving, reasonable control, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to the Chronicle-Telegram, Surry has been arrested six other times for drunken driving since 1997. Because of his previous convictions, Surry was forced to submit to a breathalyzer though he had initially refused. Additionally, the source reported, the man's girlfriend, Carmen Maldonado, was given a citation for allowing Surry to drive while intoxicated.

As of April 30, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has arrested 8,907 for driving with a suspended license and 8,145 for operating a vehicle while under the influence so far in 2012. In comparison, in 2011, only 7,233 were arrested for drunk driving.
