Ohio tractor trailer crash leaves one worker killed, two others injuredby Wanda Derllump, January 26th, 2012 A longtime Ohio Turnpike maintenance worker was killed and two of his coworkers were seriously injured on Tuesday, January 24, when a tractor trailer allegedly crashed into a work area in the westbound lanes of the highway, the Toledo Blade reports. Forest John Fletcher, 53, was killed in the accident, while James Roudebush, 55, and Anthony J. Stourt, 24, were both seriously injured. The truck driver, Edward Mills, 53, was also injured in the accident, according to the news source. Both injured workers were rushed to University of Toledo Medical Center, where Stout was listed in critical condition. Information on Roudebush was unavailable. Mills was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was brought to the neurological intensive-care unit. The crash allegedly occurred when the semi tanker truck went through traffic cones marking off a construction site, striking all three men. Although no charges were immediately filed, the crash remains under investigation, the media outlet stated. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that large truck crashes killed 326 non-vehicle occupants in 2009. Those who have been injured in such an incident may want to contact a truck accident lawyer to determine what legal options are available.
