Oklahoma man critically injured in bicycle accidentby Graham Allchurch, October 26th, 2011 On Monday, October 24, a man was critically injured after allegedly crashing his bicycle into a parked car in Tulsa, Oklahoma, local police officials told Tulsa World News. According to the media outlet, the man was later identified as 24-year-old John Taylor Stehr, who police believe was thrown from his bicycle onto the rear window of a car on East 45th Place just before 4:30 a.m. Despite serious lacerations to his neck, the victim was able to call for help. When first responders arrived at the scene, Stehr was found lying in the street. He was then rushed to St. Francis Hospital, where he was determined to be in critical condition, Officer Leland Ashley told the news provider. Police say they are unsure why the man hit the car, which was parked correctly on the appropriate side of the street. The Oklahoma state government reports that head and neck injury is the primary cause of death and disability in all bicycle crashes, and up to two-thirds of the 12,000 hospitalizations each year report injuries to the head. Those who have been injured in a bike accident may want to call a bicycle accident lawyer to see what action can be taken.
