Parents of Missouri student file wrongful death lawsuit after crash

The parents of a Missouri University student have filed a wrongful death lawsuit after their daughter was killed in a motorcycle accident, claiming that the driver in the crash was responsible for causing the accident, according to the Missourian.

The news source reports that Michael and Patricia Valora have filed a complaint, alleging that Aaron Hansberry caused the August 9, 2010 crash.

Their daughter, 20-year-old Caitlin Valora, was killed while riding on the motorcycle with Hansberry after the vehicle allegedly hit the curb at the intersection of State Farm Parkway and East Nifong Boulevard. Valora was thrown more than 65 from the crash site, the media outlet stated.

The Valoras' motorcycle accident lawyer claims that Hansberry broke several traffic laws, including driving at high speed, failure to stop or slow down and driving while intoxicated, which caused Valora to suffer from major injuries before she died.

According to the Missouri State High Patrol, there were 94 fatal motorcycle crashes in 2010, killing 97 people statewide. An additional 1,731 crashes were reported, which injured another 2,036 people.
