Plane crashes into Nevada golf course, injures two occupants

Police officers in Mesquite, Nevada, were dispatched to a region near Mesquite Municipal Airport on Saturday, December 17, after a reported plane crash at about 12:38 p.m., Mesquite Local News reports.

According to the news provider, officers arrived and found the downed aircraft and debris on Kitty Hawk Drive. The plane, a Cessna Caravan single engine aircraft, was found on the 17th hole of the Canyons Golf Course.

Pilot Alan Best, 25, and passenger Paul Kurt, 43, were being helped by witnesses when emergency responders arrived. Best was treated at the scene and released, while Kurt was transported to Mesa View Regional Hospital by Mesquite Fire and Rescue, where he was treated and later released. One witness stated the plane experienced a strong tailwind while attempting to land, and that one of the engines was not running while the propeller was not turning.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, there have been 1339 civil aviation accidents in 2011 through October, which have killed 234 people, compared to the same period last year, when 1343 accidents occurred.

Those who have been injured in a similar crash may want to contact a plane accident lawyer to see what legal action can be taken.
