Sedan and tractor trailer collide on Maine road

One man was seriously injured in the collision of a sedan and a tractor trailer that occurred at the intersection of Alfred Plourde Parkway and Pleasant Street in Lewiston, Maine, on Tuesday, December 6.

According to the Sun Journal, 71-year-old Roger Pomerleau was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after the accident. Police reports indicate Pomerleau was driving on Pleasant Street at about 8 a.m. when he turned right onto Plourde Parkway as the tractor trailer was crossing the street.

The truck then allegedly hit Pomerleau's 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, causing damage that forced first responders to use cutting tools to extricate the driver from the vehicle.

The media outlet stated the truck was driven by Canadian driver Pierre Boudreau.

Police stated the entrance to Pleasant Street was blocked off for several hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the accident.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show 3,151 people were killed in large truck accidents across the country in 2009.

Those who have been injured in such an accident are encouraged to contact a truck accident lawyer, as victims may be entitled to legal action.
