Settlement reached in 2007 Connecticut accidentby Elizabeth Porter, September 28th, 2011 A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit over a Wolcott, Connecticut crash in 2007 that left three area teenagers dead, The Associated Press reports. According to the news source, jury selection for the case had already begun when the settlement was reached. The suit was filed by the parents of Anthony Apruzzesse, 17 at the time of the accident, and his 15-year-old sister Jessica. The estate of 14-year-old passenger Tharama Correa also filed a lawsuit. The Republican American reports that the claim was withdrawn on August 19, but the amount of the settlement was not disclosed, and the plaintiff's auto accident lawyer refused to comment. Richard Benecick was named as the defendant in the case. Police reports show that the three teens died after their car allegedly collided with a boat that was being towed by A&S Boats, Inc., and that speed was ultimately ruled as the cause of the crash. However, the Republican American states the lawsuit alleged that the driver towing the boat caused the crash after making an unsafe turn onto Farmingbury Hills Golf Course. Police attempted to have the trial removed, but were unsuccessful. All content on Accidents.com is for informational purposes only and is NOT intended as legal or medical advice.
