
Texas man sues Mardi Gras tent manufacturerby Graham Allchurch, September 6th, 2011 Mardi Gras Southeast Texas and AAA Rentals has have been sued by Frederick Jones after an accident at this year's festival in which a tent made by the company allegedly fell on him, causing serious injuries, the Southeast Texas Record reports. According to the news source, Jones' personal injury lawyer filed the lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court on August 29. The complaint states that Jones was attending the Mardi Gras celebration in Port Arthur, Texas, on March 5, 2011 when a tent leased by AAA Rentals collapsed on him. The suit alleges that the defendants were responsible for maintaining the tent's condition, and should have made sure it was safe while it was being used, the media outlet stated. Jones is suing for his claimed past and future medical expenses, pain, impairment, mental anguish, disfigurement and lost wages, in addition to all court costs. The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham of the 58th District Court, according to the Record. According to Fox News, rowdy Mardi Gras crowds pose challenges for medical personnel every year, and hospitals begin planning weeks ahead of time for the surge in patients admitted.
