Texas teen charged after fatal motorcycle accident

An 18-year-old man from Dallas is currently facing charges from the University Park Police Department after his involvement in a motorcycle accident that left one person dead in the Park Cities area this past weekend.

According to Fox affiliate KDFW, police charged Joshua Albert Reyes with intoxication manslaughter after his vehicle allegedly collided with a motorcyclist early Saturday morning near the corner of Preston Road and University Boulevard.

Reports show Reyes was driving his Honda Civic in the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard when he allegedly drove through a red light. The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Danny Ray Viola, was allegedly hit by Reyes' Civic as he was traveling through the intersection on Preston Road.

The media outlet states Viola was taken to Parkland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by medical officials.

After the accident, police determined Reyes was drunk by a field sobriety tests, but a blood draw was also taken. The results of the test are still pending.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were 1,075 people killed in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes in 2010.

Those who have been injured in a motorcycle crash may want to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer to determine if legal action can be taken.
