Three killed in South Carolina tractor-trailer crash

Three people were killed and two others were injured in a crash on Interstate 85 in Anderson, South Carolina, when a tractor-trailer crashed into on-coming traffic on Saturday, July 30, CBS affiliate WSPA reports.

According to South Carolina State troopers, a semi driven by 69-year-old Eddie Wyatt was in the southbound lanes when it veered over the median and struck another tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes head-on, causing the truck to jack-knife and strike a pickup truck and an SUV, the news source stated.

According to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Josh Shore, Wyatt's truck went through the metal barrier and "literally dragged" the other cars along.

"It's one of the worst accidents I've ever seen," he told Go Up State News.

Wyatt died on the scene while the other truck driver, Clay Johnson, was also killed in the accident. The third victim in the accident was Jeremy Scott Wilson, who was driving the Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. The two people riding in the SUV were transported via helicopter to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where they are both listed in good condition.

Those who have been injured in an accident with a tractor trailer may want to contact a truck accident attorney to see what legal action can be taken.
