Tractor trailer accident kills three motorists in Florida crash

An accident on Tuesday, January 31, claimed the life of three people after a sedan and a tractor trailer collided on Florida Route 228, The Florida Times-Union reports.

According to the news source, a Toyota was driving in the eastbound lanes when it stopped at the intersection with U.S. 301. Upon turning onto the road, the car was allegedly hit by a large truck traveling south.

The semi truck hit the driver's side of the vehicle and dragged it about 75 yards before coming to a rest, at which point the car was nearly under the truck, reports say.

Greg Hayden was resting in his own truck when the accident occurred only a few yards away from him.

"I came out of my truck and noticed there was a car in front of a semi, and it was bad stuff," he said.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, large truck crashes killed 3,380 people in 2009.

Those who have been injured in such a crash may want to contact a truck accident lawyer to assess all legal options.
