According to the news source, the crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. when 49-year-old Laurie Vaughan was driving in a 1988 Mercury. Vaughan was traveling south on Highway 81 when she allegedly struck a tractor trailer, which killed her 68-year-old mother, Linda Reinders. Reinders was a passenger in the backseat of the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck was being driven by Dennis Starman in the northbound lanes of Highway 81. When Starman turned left onto Highway 22, the rear of the semi allegedly failed to clear the intersection, and struck Vaughan's vehicle.
