Truck crash leads to $7 million lawsuitby Wanda Derllump, November 15th, 2011 On November 10, a jury in Harrison, Arkansas, awarded one man $7 million in a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of a truck and its company involved in a fatal accident in 2008. The complaint was filed in the Western District of Arkansas Federal Court. The family of Roger Reagan was represented by a truck accident lawyer, who filed the complaint. The lawsuit alleges that Reagan was killed when a truck, driven by Morgan Quisenberry, reportedly crossed the center line of the road and crashed into the vehicle driven by Reagan. The case explored which vehicle crossed the center line, as there were discrepancies in eye witness accounts and police investigations. The Arkansas State Police eventually concluded that a separate car other than the defendant's initially crossed the center line, however several witnesses took the the stand to say the semi was the first to show reckless driving behavior. After evidence surfaced that Quisenberry was likely speeding, fatigued while driving and had not undergone a background check by the company, the jury unanimously awarded the amount to Reagan's family. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that 3,380 people were killed in large truck accidents throughout the country in 2009.
