Two men survive Alaska plane crashby Shawna Dashwood, September 15th, 2011 After their plane crashed to the ground shortly after takeoff, two men walked away from the accident with only minor injuries. The accident occurred about 100 miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska, the Anchorage Daily News reports. Terry Jurenka, the pilot, and passenger Troy Nicolson had flown to Rainy Pass late on Tuesday, September 13, to check on a friend who had been moose-hunting in the area. On their way back, the Cessna 180 caught a gust of wind, cartwheeled through the sky, then crashed to the ground. "I thought that was it, I was going to die," Nicolson said. A friend who had been monitoring their flight noticed the distress call and alerted Nicolson's wife, who phoned Alaska State Troopers. Air Alaska Guard was notified by late Tuesday, and rescue fliers arrived by 1 a.m. on Wednesday, the media outlet stated. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, there have been 905 civil aviation accidents so far in 2011. Those who have been injured in a civil aviation airplane crash may want to contact an aviation accident lawyer to see what legal action can be taken.
