Virginia motorcycle crash lawsuit expected to be settledby Wanda Derllump, December 2nd, 2011 A lawsuit filed over a 2009 motorcycle crash is expected to be settled in the near future, more than two years after the man found to be responsible for the accident was sentenced to prison, NBC affiliate WVIR News reports. According to the media outlet, Christine Hinkle, who was severely injured in the accident, filed a complaint against Sean Avery Stanton, who was convicted of driving drunk and smashing into the motorcycle she was riding. Now, the case is being settled out of court by Hinkle's motorcycle accident lawyer. The complaint alleges Hinkle suffered debilitating, ongoing injuries that have led her to lose her income and overall quality of life. The media outlet states that accident occurred near West Augusta, Virginia, in May of 2009, when Stanton was alleging driving with a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit and crossed the center line, colliding with three motorcycles. Data compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show there were 243 drunk driving-related accidents in 2009, which made up 32 percent of all traffic fatalities.
