West Virginia tractor trailer accident injures two

A young boy and a woman had to be airlifted to Charleston Medical Center on Sunday, September 11, after an accident on Interstate 77 in Princeton, West Virginia, WVNS News 59 reports.

According to the media outlet, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the expressway near mile marker 26 when an adult male, who was driving an SUV carrying the two passengers, allegedly collided with a tractor trailer at around 9. a.m. while the the passengers were on their way to church.

Volunteer fire fighters from Ghent, as well as rescue teams from Princeton and Bluestone Valley were the first responders to the accident. The two victims who were flown to Charleston are listed in fair condition, while two other male passengers were unharmed in the crash.

This is the second tractor trailer accident in a matter of weeks on the West Virginia Turnpike. On August 24, a tractor trailer allegedly lost control and jackknifed, closing the Northbound lanes of the road for more than an hour, according to WSAZ News Channel 3.
